Located in South Central Los Angeles, Heritage College-Ready Academy High School (CRAHS) is an urban high school in the Los Angeles Unified School District. 98% of the 152 sophomores enrolled in the ’10-’11 school year were English Learners who scored Far Below Basic on the previous year’s California Standards Test.
Heritage CRAHS began preparing their sophomores by using Revolution K12’s Algebra Readiness software to reinforce math fundamentals. The students used the program during after-school hours and as homework, accompanied by daily progress checks. After three months of use, students then switched their focus to Revolution K12’s CAHSEE 380 program. Used daily as a part of core class instruction, CAHSEE preparation ran for two months, leading up to the March administration of the CAHSEE. Teachers reviewed program reports daily in order to better align their instruction to meet specific class needs.
After the first year of its partnership with Revolution K12, Heritage CRAHS reports:
"I really struggled in the beginning because I didn’t know anything. Using the programs, I saw my sense of knowledge improve, and it motivated me to increase my studies. The Revolution K12 programs helped me prepare for the CAHSEE. I got a perfect score in Math and "Advanced" in English!"
