Consistency of instruction leads to higher exam pass rates

A large county office of education provides instruction under some of the most difficult conditions in the country. The students are the county's most at-risk, entering the system through Juvenile Court Schools, Alternative Education and Special Education. Even more challenging, students are transient within the system, leaving one program only to resurface in another, weeks or even months later.

The county office did the best it could to bring these students up to grade level. Students were encouraged to complete their graduation requirements, including passing the state exit exam. Efforts to help students pass had previously failed due to the difficulty of providing a consistent learning experience.

Individualized online learning key to student success

Revolution K12 provided the county office an alternative. Our web-based platform adapts specifically to each student's needs and can be accessed from any location. This ensures each student can pick up his or her coursework right where he or she left off. Similarly, teachers can use Revolution K12’s reports to guide instruction for specific groups in their classroom and target the areas most relevant to those students.

Both students and teachers rapidly adapted to using the system. Teachers were thrilled when students began quietly listening to the program’s audio tracks in English or Spanish to learn new concepts and build useful skills. At some sites, use of the program was even offered as a reward for good behavior.

Compared with students who did not participate in Revolution K12’s program, those who did passed both sections of the state exit exam at significantly higher rates.
